Looking for a way to hold onto that summer glow, even as the season is slowing fading? The staff at Aesthetic Arts Institute of Plastic Surgery can help. We offer a variety of skin rejuvenating treatments to revive a complexion that has taken a beating from the summer sun. Whether you are looking for extensive exfoliation or a simple skin brightening solution, we have the procedures that offer the results you want.

ZO Peels

Created by Zein Obagi, MD, ZO peels are designed to produce dramatic results with targeted treatments that can address a wide range of skin concerns. At Aesthetic Arts Institute of Plastic Surgery, we often recommend the ZO 3-Step Peel to revive dull, tired skin after a long season of environmental exposure. This stimulating peel may help to improve the following concerns:

  • Melasma and sun damage
  • Uneven texture and tone
  • Early signs of aging, such as fine lines
  • Large pores and acne breakouts

The 3-step peel begins with the application of powerful exfoliants like trichloracetic acid (TCA), salicylic acid and glycolic acid to remove dead dry cells and prepare the skin for the next step of the treatment. Retinol is then applied to stimulate the skin, encourage cell renewal and minimize signs of aging. The final step is a calming cream to restore moisture and reduce post-procedural irritation. Downtime after a ZO 3-Step Peel is 2-3 days and the results can last many months before a touch-up procedure is required.

Dermabrasion

Dermabrasion is a more intense exfoliation treatment that addresses prominent skin concerns and more advanced signs of aging. This procedure works in a similar fashion to microdermabrasion, but removes additional skin layers for more dramatic results. Dermabrasion may also be used to remove pre-cancerous growths that might have occurred due to sun exposure. In addition, dermabrasion is recommended for the following skin issues:

  • Fine lines and deeper facial creases
  • Hyperpigmentation, such as freckles and age spots
  • More severe irregularities in texture and tone
  • Scarring due to acne, chicken pox or surgery

Dermabrasion is generally performed under local anesthesia and requires a recovery period of approximately 2-3 weeks. However, the dramatic results achieved with dermabrasion will last much longer than microdermabrasion treatments, with many patients going a number of years before requiring a touch-up procedure.

Facials

If you want a simple, quick skin revival to greet the upcoming season, a customized facial may be a good choice for you. This pampering procedure can target a wide range of skin concerns and conditions, including acne, dry skin and early signs of aging. Facials provide temporary results and must be repeated on a regular basis to maintain your refreshing glow. However, the procedure is the perfect way to transition to the new season without a major disruption in your daily life.

Your skin is exposed to plenty of elements over the summer months, as you enjoy time in the fresh air and sunshine. Give your skin the rejuvenation it needs with a skin treatment designed just for you. To learn more, contact Aesthetic Arts Institute of Plastic Surgery at (619) 464-9876.
