Significantly reduce the appearance of veins with sclerotherapy. The treatment is highly effective for veins larger than 1 millimeter in size and can produce results in a matter of weeks.
Dr. Susan Kaweski offers sclerotherapy to San Diego patients who want improvement in their legs, arms, and other areas of concern. The procedure introduces a solution directly into the vein that causes it to scar internally. As healthier veins take over the task of carrying blood, your body reabsorbs the targeted vein, and it eventually fades and becomes less prominent. The result: clearer skin and more aesthetically appealing features.
Spider and Varicose Veins
Sclerotherapy can improve both spider veins and varicose veins as long as they are the appropriate size for treatment.
Spider veins are red and blue lines on the surface of your skin that resemble a spider’s web. They commonly appear on the lower legs but can also develop on the thighs, abdomen, and face. Most people don’t experience symptoms beyond cosmetic concerns, although some people report leg heaviness, achiness, and swelling.
Varicose veins stand out more prominently on the skin’s surface and are typically blue or purple in color. They usually appear in the lower legs and are the result of blood pooling in the veins, causing them to swell. You may have no symptoms with varicose veins, though some patients experience uncomfortable heaviness, achiness, restless legs, and itching skin.
Both spider veins and varicose veins are common cosmetic concerns, and Dr. Kaweski can advise you whether the veins you are targeting are large enough for sclerotherapy or for another aesthetic approach.
Getting Started with Sclerotherapy
San Diego patients are invited to schedule an initial consultation with Aesthetic Arts Institute. Our practice offers a professional medical setting for your treatment, and you’ll be welcomed by a caring and attentive staff that prioritizes patient comfort.
During your initial consultation, you’ll have a chance to talk with Dr. Kaweski about your specific concerns. She will:
- Evaluate the areas you’d like to improve.
- Assess the areas of concern
- Conduct a medical history to make sure that you are a good candidate for sclerotherapy.
Dr. Kaweski will also talk with you about how the treatment works, what to expect, and the type of results it can provide. While sclerotherapy can improve the appearance of veins in one session, you may require multiple treatments for the ideal outcome.
Your Experience with Sclerotherapy
Dr. Kaweski provides treatment to San Diego-area patients in our offices in La Mesa. The procedure is non-invasive, and you’ll be able to return to normal daily activities immediately. In fact, it is recommended that you remain on your feet and move as much as possible for the first 3 days after sclerotherapy. Compression stockings are also recommended which are immediately worn after the procedure and maintained for 24 hours.
During sclerotherapy, Dr. Kaweski injects the sclerosing agent directly into the veins you are targeting. Treatment takes only a few minutes depending on the number of veins you are having treated.
Expect to see major improvement in smaller varicose and spider veins within a few weeks. Large veins can take several months and multiple treatments. By the end of these sessions, veins should be significantly less noticeable, leaving behind smoother and clearer skin.
If you’ve been hiding your legs, arms, or other areas because of varicose and spider veins, consider sclerotherapy. Schedule an appointment with our San Diego offices online or by phone at (619) 464-9876.
